Pre-AP Vocabulary List

Emergent: The top layer of the tropical rainforest
Intolerant: Not able to withstand
Vegetation: Plant life
Predator: An animal that preys on other animals (kills then eats)
Diverse: A wide variety
Sparse: Spread out, few in number
Vital: Very important; of or relating to life
Consumption: To take something in; to use up; to eat
Vary: To change
Favorable: Having an advantage
Herbivore: An animal that eats plants
Dominated: To take over; to govern; to rule
Temperate: Mild and balanced
Tropical: Something originating in the tropics or close to the equator
Qualitative: Measurements based on senses

Quantitative: Measurements based on numbers
Precision: The ability of a measurement to be reproduced
Accuracy: Coming up with the right answer
Hypothesis: An educated guess
X-Axis: The horizontal line on a line graph
Y-Axis: The vertical line on a line graph
